Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, James Martin!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Morgan Priest!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Priest fails to land with a series of punches.
Martin ducks under a wild hook from Priest.
Priest misses with a wild combination.
Martin showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Priest.
Priest tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Martin slips a jab and a cross from Priest.
Martin fails with the takedown.
Priest misses with a series of wild punches.
Martin avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Martin throws a right hand that Priest ducks under and follows up with a left that Priest also avoids with ease.
Morgan Priest seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Priest misses with a double jab
and Martin cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Priest throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped

and Martin counters with a takedown into side control.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Priest is trying to get back to his feet.

Martin looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.
Martin in side control lands a decent elbow.
Priest is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Martin is controlling him well.
Martin throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage.
Priest can't do much from the bottom here.
Priest is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.
Priest really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Martin. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Martin is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
Priest wants to get back to his feet.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!
Martin is trying to control the action in half guard but Priest is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Priest looks like he's trying to stand up.
Martin throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Priest is trying to stand back up but Martin is controlling him

Martin is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.
Priest is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Martin scores with a couple of nice shots.
Martin has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Martin is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Priest can do anything to dispel that myth.
Martin seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.
Priest is looking to escape.

Martin looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Priest is trying to stand.
Priest looks gassed!
Priest wants to get back to full guard.

Martin is working for a kimura but Priest is defending it quite comfortably.

Martin stops Priest from getting back to his feet.
Priest has hold of Martin's hands but Martin slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.
Priest is trying to stand.
Priest is using up a lot of energy trying to get back to his feet. Perhaps he should improve his position first.
Martin lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.
Priest wants to get back to his feet.
Martin scoring with strikes to the body and head.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Martin is nestled in close to Priest, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.

Martin wants to work for an arm triangle but Priest is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Martin is trying to work for a kimura but Priest is defending well.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Martin is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Priest is trying to stand.
Priest is trying to maintain the position but Martin is very close to passing his half guard.
Martin lands strikes from half guard.

Priest has one foot on Martin's thigh - he pushes off and manages to get back to his feet.
Martin moves out of range as Priest strikes.
Priest swings wildly with a couple of big hooks

so Martin counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Priest utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Priest is looking to stand up but Martin isn't so interested in that idea.
Martin distracts Priest with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

James Martin dominated that round.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!


Martin scores with a nice strike.
Priest throws a push kick but Martin slaps the foot to one side.
Priest fails with an attempt to clinch.
Priest throws an overhand right that lands on Martin's shoulder, as Martin tries to avoid the shot.
Morgan Priest is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Martin lands the left hand.
Martin shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Priest as he avoids it easily.
Priest falls off balance throwing a combination

and Martin counters with a takedown into side control.

Martin working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.

Martin is working to tighten is grip on Priest's neck. He's isolated an arm and is working for an arm triangle. Priest has recognised the danger and is trying to turn with the submission but Martin is really squeezing tight and eventually Priest passes out! Martin breaks the hold and jumps onto the cage to celebrate! Submission of the night, I'd say!
