Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
McCowan fails with an attempt to clinch.
Herrera circles away from the clinch attempt.
McCowan misses with a head kick.
Herrera has a takedown stuffed.

McCowan clinches with his opponent.
A left hand lands to the body for Herrera.
McCowan creates a bit of distance and throws an elbow that only just misses.
Herrera avoids a wild elbow strike from McCowan.
Herrera working hard to break the clinch.
McCowan misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Herrera.
McCowan unloads a knee to the mid-section. Herrera lets out a prehistoric sounding urrrrgh.
McCowan lands a nice elbow.

Herrera is trying to drag McCowan to the mat but McCowan just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
McCowan creates a bit of space for himself and sneaks an elbow through Herrera's defenses.
Herrera blocks an elbow strike.
Herrera tries to pull guard but McCowan won't allow it.

Herrera looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? McCowan is fending him off so far but Herrera persists. Nope, McCowan circles away and we're back to standing.
Herrera avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
McCowan tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Herrera paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Tony McCowan is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
McCowan lands a head kick. Herrera smiles back at him and beckons him forward.
Herrera tries to score a power double leg takedown but McCowan sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Herrera somewhat.
McCowan is looking to clinch.

McCowan fails with an attempt to clinch.
Herrera shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as McCowan sprawls well. McCowan wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Herrera gets slowly back to his feet.

McCowan tries to clinch up but Herrera circles away and keeps his distance.

Herrera has his foot on McCowan's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. McCowan works his way back into a safe position though.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
McCowan wants to control from the top but Herrera keeps moving.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
McCowan throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Herrera keeping moving, preventing McCowan from controlling successfully.
Herrera is trying to keep McCowan in close.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

McCowan gets in close and instigates a clinch.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
McCowan throws an elbow but it's blocked.
Herrera is working hard here but doesn't seem to be able to control effectively, up against the cage.
McCowan landing knees to the head.
McCowan with the Thai clinch, lands a knee to the head.
McCowan pushes off an throws an elbow but Herrera leans to the side and avoids it. We're back to clinching against the cage.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Tony McCowan dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

McCowan swings wildly with an uppercut but Herrera uses good head movement to avoid it.
McCowan throws an elbow that misses.
Herrera dodges an elbow strike from McCowan.
McCowan connects with a nasty looking knee right to Herrera's face.

Herrera has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. McCowan avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.
McCowan tries a knee to the head but Herrera blocks it.

Herrera jumps guard and drags McCowan to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
Herrera is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.
McCowan has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Herrera is proving hard to escape from.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Herrera has his hands on McCowan's head, controlling the position.
McCowan wants to control from the top but Herrera keeps moving.

McCowan is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Herrera is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Herrera has escaped and now he's on top!
Herrera is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Herrera won't allow McCowan to sweep him here.
McCowan looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Herrera puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.
Herrera passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for McCowan!
Herrera looking to ground and pound his opponent to a finish here.

Herrera is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but McCowan is surviving well by controlling Herrera's body position as best he can.

Herrera can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as McCowan is looking to escape.
McCowan wants to hold on but Herrera pushes him away.
Herrera trying to control but McCowan is having none of it.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
McCowan is working to get back to half guard.
McCowan is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
McCowan wriggling around on the bottom manages to avoid the strikes thrown by Herrera.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!



Herrera rushes McCowan and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
McCowan looks to throw an elbow but misses.
McCowan keeps control of Herrera as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.

With the two fighters working up against the cage, McCowan just misses with a elbow thrown towards Herrera's brow.

Herrera gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, McCowan regains guard.
Herrera wants to pass the guard but McCowan is keeping the position.
Herrera slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

Herrera gets to his feet. McCowan looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!

McCowan tries to grapple but his opponent circles

and Herrera counters by moving into the clinch.

McCowan comes over the top with an elbow. That landed flush.
McCowan lands an elbow just above Herrera 's eye.
McCowan tries a knee to the head but he's missed.
A short left from Herrera.
A head punch blocked on the inside by Herrera.

Herrera gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, McCowan regains guard.

McCowan is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
McCowan is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Herrera is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

McCowan wants to sweep here but Herrera controlling him for the moment.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
McCowan tries to clinch up but Herrera circles away and keeps his distance.
Herrera shoots in but no luck this time.

and Herrera counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
Herrera is figuring out what he wants to do next.

McCowan is trying to maintain the position but Herrera is very close to passing his half guard.
