The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Flores has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Scissors can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Flores escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Scissors gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Scissors got a little sloppy there for a moment and Flores has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Scissors has managed to get both his arms back between Flores's legs - danger averted.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.



Scissors has closed the distance and engaged Flores in a clinch.
Flores jumps guard but Scissors stands there with Flores around his waist. Flores gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

Kyle Scissors has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Steve Flores.

Scissors is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Flores can't fight it off and eventually Scissors manages to take the fight to the floor. Flores looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Scissors digs a right hand underneath Flores's ribcage. Flores let out a lung full of air as it connected.
Flores fails to pull the fight into his guard.

Scissors decides to pull guard.
Flores preventing the sweep.
Flores looking to sit in guard and control but Scissors gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Flores looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Scissors passes into half guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
