PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Ilya Artyuchkin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ax Boron (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Ax Boron was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Illya Tyunina, Vladimir Khabensky and Aleksandr Martynov.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Boron moves in looking to clinch but Artyuchkin pushes him off.
Boron goes for a spinning back kick but it misses.
Boron tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Artyuchkin was well out of range. Poor timing from Boron.
Artyuchkin swats away the attempt to clinch by Boron.

Good work by Artyuchkin as he checks the leg kick.
A kick lands to the mid section there for Boron.
Boron throws a right and a left that both miss.
Boron connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.

Ax Boron seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

and Boron counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.

Boron changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Artyuchkin tries to avoid it but Boron manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Artyuchkin to the ground. Artyuchkin escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
The fight stays on the outside here - Boron looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Boron should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Boron rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Artyuchkin moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Artyuchkin drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Boron manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.

Artyuchkin is trying to work for a kimura but Boron is defending well.

Artyuchkin is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Boron is just riding it out for now. Artyuchkin eventually gives up the hold.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

The fighters circling - Boron throws out the jab but it was never going to land.

and Boron counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Artyuchkin avoids a punch combination nicely.

Boron tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Ilya Artyuchkin will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!
