Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Filthy McNasty (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Nikolai Valuev (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). McNasty comes to the cage accompanied by Burn it to the ground-Nickelback. Nikolai Valuev will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

McNasty shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Valuev pushes McNasty off looking to stand but McNasty dives back in and keeps control.

Valuev is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

McNasty drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Valuev dives on top into guard.
Valuev has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of McNasty is proving hard to escape from.

McNasty had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Valuev is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. McNasty Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Valuev's back instead.

Valuev is displaying good submission defense - not really looking in danger of submitting to the rear naked choke at the moment. That could change in an instant of course if McNasty gets his way!

McNasty swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Valuev is now in McNasty's guard. A big mistake from McNasty there, giving up the dominant position!

McNasty postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Valuev is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of McNasty, into his guard.

Valuev must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

McNasty fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Valuev avoids it really well and circles away.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
