The judges for this bout are Eddie Farnsworth, Bruno Lombardi and Russell Pearce.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Thompson lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Kaplan circles away quickly and effectively.
Kaplan changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Thompson tries to avoid it but Kaplan manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Thompson to the ground. Thompson escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Thompson is looking to slow Kaplan down with leg kicks.
Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world.

Kaplan closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Thompson did well to prevent Kaplan getting side control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

That was a close second round but I would say that Dave Kaplan will probably get the nod.
