PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Caden Akergaard (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jyri Jokela (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jokela throws a series of punches but Akergaard avoids them all with ease.
Akergaard moves into range and lands a nice body kick.
Akergaard lands a nice looking kick to the body. Jokela takes a step back to recover.
Akergaard throws a head kick that misses.
Jokela tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Akergaard was well out of range. Poor timing from Jokela.
Akergaard shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Jokela throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Akergaard.
Akergaard connects with a solid leg kick.
A decent looking body kick lands there for Akergaard.

Akergaard rushes Jokela and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Jokela is looking to break free of the clinch but Akergaard has double underhooks.
Jokela wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.
Jokela looks gassed!
Akergaard landing knees to the body. They look like they could hurt.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Akergaard manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.
Akergaard is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Akergaard has his hands on Jokela's head, controlling the position.
Akergaard bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Jokela's guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Akergaard is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Akergaard with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Jokela can do anything to dispel that myth.

Akergaard drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Akergaard jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Akergaard is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.
Jokela keeping moving, preventing Akergaard from controlling successfully.

Jokela wants to stand but Akergaard is controlling the position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Akergaard working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.

Akergaard seems like he's working for an arm triangle here. He's freed his trapped foot and he's rotating nicely. Jokela is in big trouble! He's tapping out! This one is aaaaaaaaaaaall over!
