PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Derek Blackley (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jack Fadden (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Blackley comes to the cage accompanied by Shock To The System by Billy Idol. Fadden comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Walk kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! The key to victory for Derek Blackley has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 9 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Derek Blackley!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Jack Fadden!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Good work by Fadden as he checks the leg kick.
Fadden tries to clinch up.
Blackley circles away from the clinch attempt.
Blackley will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Blackley clinches up with Fadden and pushes him back against the cage.

Fadden has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Blackley is trying to keep an underhook but Fadden manages to get the takedown into half guard.
Blackley pushes Fadden off looking to stand but Fadden dives back in and keeps control.

Blackley thows a huge punch but Fadden dodges it nicely.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Blackley tries to pass to full mount but Fadden defends it.
Fadden wants to improve his position but Blackley is controlling well.
Blackley looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.

Fadden is looking for a sweep. Blackley is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Oooh a big shot gets through from Blackley. Many more shots like that and the referee will have to think about stepping in!
Fadden wants to control his opponent's hands but Blackley gets his hands free.

Blackley is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Fadden has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Fadden!

Fadden working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
Fadden seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Fadden is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.

Jack Fadden showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Fadden connects with a nice short shot to Blackley's temple.
Blackley moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.

Blackley is working an open guard so Fadden takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.

and Blackley makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.
Jack Fadden is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
