Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Rulon Oboev (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Noah Gregory (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Gregory has chosen A New Level as his entrance music. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 5 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Rulon Oboev!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 10 - 3 - 1, fighting out of Helsinki, Noah Gregory!
The judges for this bout are Aleksei Zolotukhin, Aleksandr Martynov and Viktor Lagutenko.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Oboev looks for a takedown but Gregory sprawls well.
Gregory throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Oboev sees it coming and avoids it easily.

Oboev shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Gregory is trying to defend but Oboev finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.

Oboev looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Oboev is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Gregory defends it well.

Gregory is defending against the submission attempts here by Oboev.
Gregory keeping control of the leg, stopping his opponent passing to mount.
Gregory is looking to control Oboev's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Gregory avoid being mounted?

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Gregory is trying to avoid being dragged into an even worse position than he's already in but Oboev is staying active.

Oboev is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Gregory is just riding it out for now. Oboev eventually gives up the hold.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Gregory gets caught flat footed, as Oboev shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Oboev might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Gregory is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Oboev drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Gregory dives on top into guard.
Gregory stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Oboev swivels though and keeps the full guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Gregory stays in close to Oboev's body and controls the position.
Gregory wants to control from the top but Oboev keeps moving.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Gregory pushes down on Oboev's leg and manages to get into half guard.

Oboev is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Gregory pulls his head out easily.

Oboev looking for submissions from an awkward position here.
Gregory is looking to take a break and control but Oboev is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Gregory is working for a submission of some sort.
Gregory content to control rather than advance.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Rulon Oboev will probably get the nod.
That's time! Back to the action!



Oboev shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Gregory napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Oboev wants to control but Gregory is keeping him busy.

Gregory is looking for a sweep.
Gregory can't do much from the bottom here.

Oboev working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.

Oboev swings around for an armbar but Gregory sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Oboev's guard.

Oboev looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

Gregory drops back looking for a leg! Oboev is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Oboev manages to kick Gregory off! Gregory jumps back into Oboev's guard.
Gregory tries to free his leg and advance position but Oboev is retaining full guard.

Oboev escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Gregory gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Gregory got a little sloppy there for a moment and Oboev has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Gregory has managed to get both his arms back between Oboev's legs - danger averted.
Gregory's corner is telling him to maintain position.

Despite being in the dominant position, Noah Gregory just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Oboev looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Gregory is fending him off so far but Oboev persists. Nope, Gregory circles away and we're back to standing.
Oboev closes the distance and clinches up with Gregory, looking for a takedown. Oboev pushes Gregory against the cage but Gregory circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Gregory throws a low kick but his opponent is out of range.

Oboev looking to sit in guard and control but Gregory gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Gregory trying to control the position from guard on top but Oboev is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Oboev is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Gregory is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

Gregory might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Oboev kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

Oboev has his foot on Gregory's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Gregory works his way back into a safe position though.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Gregory forces his way into half guard.

Gregory is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Oboev is staying active underneath Gregory, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Gregory is taking a breather. Oboev says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

Gregory content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.
Oboev is looking to control Gregory's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Oboev avoid being mounted?
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Rulon Oboev dominated that second round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!


Oboev shoots and misses
and Gregory counters with a kick to the head that grazes his opponent. Oboev is lucky that one didn't land flush.

Oboev doesn't succeed with the takedown

and Gregory counters by moving into the clinch.
Oboev can't get the takedown.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Rulon Oboev. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Oboev gets a trip takedown into half guard.
Oboev takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Gregory is trying to control but Oboev manages to pass to mount!

Oboev jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Gregory is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Gregory and Oboev has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
The strikes coming from Oboev are missing the target in this wave of attacks.

You can see the frustration on Gregory's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

Gregory sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard.
Gregory wants to control but Oboev is keeping busy.

Oboev is trying to advance to mount but he's lost his balance and Gregory reverses the position - he's now on top in Oboev's guard.

Oboev isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Gregory stacks Oboev on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Gregory!
Oboev is trying to get back to half guard.

Gregory tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Gregory has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Oboev tries to bench press Gregory off him but Gregory keeps the position.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Gregory has knee on belly and moves into mount.
Oboev is trying to escape the mount.
Noah Gregory has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Oboev is in a horrible position here. Gregory smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.

Gregory jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Oboev manages to avoid the submission attempt.

And that's the end of the fight!
Noah Gregory comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Oboev has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
