PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Golpacha Nosay (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and BJ Arabi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). BJ Arabi told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, BJ Arabi!
The judges for this bout are Luis Engracia, Thiago Cunha and Daniel Cesar.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Arabi swings for the body but Nosay moves out of range.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Arabi.
You can see the frustration on Nosay's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Nosay gives up the full mount - oops, sloppy defensive grappling there!
Nosay tries to lock up and control but Arabi gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Nosay is desperately trying to improve his position but Arabi has a good base and remains in mount.

Arabi looking to control but Nosay is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Arabi tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Nosay wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Nosay tries to advance to mount but Arabi denies him.
Arabi wants to control but Nosay postures up.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Arabi looking for a sweep but Nosay has passed into full mount! Oh no!
Nosay forces the positional change into back control.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but BJ Arabi will probably get the nod.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Arabi can do anything to dispel that myth.

That's time! Nosay's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!

Arabi wants to stand and escape but Nosay is having none of it.
Nosay not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

Nosay pushes down on Arabi's leg and manages to get into half guard.
Arabi flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.

Nosay takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.

Nosay is looking to take a break and control but Arabi is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Arabi is staying active underneath Nosay, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

The referee stands the fighters back up. Golpacha Nosay just wasn't active enough from the dominant position.

Golpacha Nosay overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

I would just about give that final round to BJ Arabi.
