PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Evan Sellari (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and John Wright (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Wright comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Big Bad John kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Evan Sellari looks tired to me. Hopefully he has got enough gas left in the tank to put in a good performance.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Wright blocks a head kick by Sellari.
Jeez, both these guys look absolutely knackered already, that's not a good sign!
Sellari throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.
Nice takedown defense from Sellari. No joy for Wright on that attempt.

Sellari rushes Wright and presses him up against the cage.
Sellari jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Wright walks away with a smile on his face. Sellari gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

and Sellari counters with a series of strikes. Wright will be more careful next time no doubt.

John Wright seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

and Sellari makes the exchange count by landing a cracking kick to the body. Wright really felt that one!

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Sellari moves in looking to clinch but Wright pushes him off.

Wright looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
Sellari has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Wright is working away from the top position though.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
It looks like Wright is going to stand back up.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Sellari lands a nice leg kick that just misses Wright's sensitive parts.

John Wright showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!

Sellari will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Wright scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.
Sellari is looking to take this fight into the clinch.

The fighters circling - Wright throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Wright rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Sellari moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
