Griffin fails with a takedown attempt.
Mason misses with a double jab.
Mason throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Mason slaps away a takedown attempt from Griffin, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Mason swings away with a leg kick that misses.
Frank Mason seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
A clash of legs there as Griffin blocks the low kick.
Griffin takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
Mason throws a right and a left that both miss.

Mason lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin.

It looks like Wandell Griffin has been cut.

Mason throws a right hand that Griffin ducks under and follows up with a left that Griffin also avoids with ease.

Mason fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Griffin on the side of the head.
Griffin shoots in for a takedown but Mason shows good takedown defense.

Griffin bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Mason's head.

Mason throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Griffin stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.

Mason takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.

Mason lands a really nice looking cross but Griffin seems unphased.

and Mason makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.

Griffin closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Mason is trying to maintain the position but Griffin is very close to passing his half guard.
Mason is trying to avoid being dragged into an even worse position than he's already in but Griffin is staying active.

Mason is holding on to half guard well.
Griffin lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.
Mason is looking to improve his position.
Griffin tries to pass to full mount but Mason defends it.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Griffin goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.

It looks like Frank Mason has been cut.
Griffin misses with a straight right.
Mason cracks Griffin with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Both fighters have cut men working on them during the interval.

Griffin shoots in for a double leg but Mason sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Frank Mason seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Griffin ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Mason connects with a right hand. Griffin shakes it off.
Mason lands a nice hook to Griffin's body. Griffin takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Mason fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Griffin looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Mason uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Griffin has time to react.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Mason throws a low kick but it's checked well by Griffin.
Griffin moves out of range of the strikes.
Mason throws a front kick aimed at Griffin's knee but Griffin avoids it well.
Griffin with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Mason to score with a decent uppercut.

Jeez, Wandell Griffin's cut is really nasty now. The referee must be thinking about getting that checked.
Mason bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Griffin's head backwards.

The referee calls the doctor in to look at Wandell Griffin's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!
