The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
jones misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Thomas tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
jones shoots in for a double leg but Thomas sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Thomas wants to control from the top but jones keeps moving.
Thomas knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for jones on the ground.
jones wants to sweep here but Thomas controlling him for the moment.

Thomas postures up in jones's guard and throws a big left but jones blocks it.

jones looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Thomas has picked jones up and slammed him! jones can't keep hold of the triangle and Thomas manages to pass to side control!

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.

Thomas shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.

Thomas pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.

jones is bucking up trying to escape but Thomas cracks him with another couple of good strikes.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells jones's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
jones pushes down on Thomas's leg and manages to get into half guard.

jones is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Thomas sees it coming and defends easily.

jones had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Thomas is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. jones Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Thomas's back instead.

jones is working for the choke. I would put my money on him to finish from this position. He's rolled onto his back and has dragged Thomas with him. Thomas is trying to defend but jones has an arm under the chin now! Thomas grimaces and is forced to tap out!
