Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Damian Surma (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Hesh Law (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Hesh Law has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Damian Surma!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Hesh Law!
The judges for this bout are Roosa Järviläinen, Matti Vanhoillinen and Tarja Halkonen.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Law shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Surma defends it nicely.
Law tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Surma swivels and escapes.

Surma has managed to clinch.
Surma tries for a takedown. No joy.
Law is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Law gets underhooks to prevent Surma's takedown attempt.
Surma is pressed up against the cage. Law has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Surma down to the mat. Surma avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Damian Surma has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Hesh Law.

Surma gets caught flat footed, as Law shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Surma might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Law is on top in guard.

Law is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Law trying to control but Surma is working from the bottom.
Surma knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Law on the ground.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Surma trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Surma postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.
Surma works a leg free and moves into half guard.
Law is staying active underneath Surma, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Law regains full guard. Nicely done.

Law wants to control but Surma passes easily into half guard.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Surma connects with a nice short shot to Law's temple.

Law is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Surma pulls his head out easily.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Law is refusing to be controlled, as Surma sits in half guard.

Surma missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.

Law looking for submissions from an awkward position here.
Surma slows the pace down in half guard.
Surma trying to control from half guard but Law is working away.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Law closes this distance looking for a takedown but Surma circles away.

Surma shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Law manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.

Surma thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

Surma stands up and waves to Law to follow him.

Surma shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Surma trying to control from Law's half guard. Law has other ideas though and has regained full guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Damian Surma dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Law throws a sloppy head kick and Surma moves out of range easily.
Law darts in trying to clinch

Law manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!
Law is looking to stall here but Surma recovers full guard.
Surma wants to get back to his feet but Law is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Surma looking to control.

Law drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Surma dives on top into guard.

Law is pulling down on Surma's head. It's preventing any offense from Surma, at least for the moment.
Law wants to control but Surma passes easily into half guard.
Law trying to hold on to Surma's head to control him but Surma postures up.
Law manages to get to full guard.

Law is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Surma is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Law is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Surma passes easily into side control. Nice work.

Surma decides to take the fight back to the feet.

Surma fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Law sprawls well initially but Surma persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Law works his way to full guard. Good work.
Law has his hands on Surma's head, controlling the position.
Law trying to punch from his back but it's not doing any damage.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Surma postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.
Surma looking to pass the guard.
Surma trying to control but Law is working from the bottom.

Law has thrown up a leg looking for a triangle. Surma doesn't defend quickly enough and Law has managed to lock this one up! Can Surma escape?! NO! He's tapping out! Damn, that was a quick submission - congrats to Law on a fantastic submission victory.
