PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Nathan Purcell (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rabulan Kristofer (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Purcell comes into the arena with Locked Up blaring out of the sound system. Rabulan Kristofer will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Rabulan Kristofer!
The judges for this bout are Lou da Vinci, Columbo Gatti and Steve Montenegro.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
An inside leg kick lands from Kristofer.
Kristofer throws a leg kick but Purcell moved away.
Kristofer moves in looking to clinch but Purcell pushes him off.
Kristofer fails with an attempt to clinch.
The sound of bone on bone echoes around the arena as Purcell checks a leg kick.

Purcell drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Purcell might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Purcell stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Kristofer swivels though and keeps the full guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Nathan Purcell dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Kristofer doesn't manage to clinch there - Purcell circles away.

Purcell closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
