Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Bill Buckley (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Bas Rutten (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rutten has chosen You Call My Name as his entrance music. Bill Buckley could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Bas Rutten's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Bill Buckley!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Bas Rutten!
The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, Frank Antenori and Jack Bonds.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rutten wants to clinch up but Buckley keeps it at a distance.
Rutten tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Buckley paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Bill Buckley seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Rutten stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Rutten wants it to stay on the feet.
Buckley keeps the fight on the outside.

Buckley throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Rutten on the side of the head.
Rutten tries to close the distance and clinch but Buckley swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Rutten shoots in looking for a takedown. Buckley tries to sprawl out of it but Rutten keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Buckley manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

The fighters circle momentarily. Buckley darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.

Rutten tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.

Buckley is trying desperately to improve position.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Buckley is working to get back to half guard.

Rutten has hold of Buckley's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Buckley manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Rutten shoots for a double leg takedown but Buckley sprawls well. He's pushed Rutten's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Buckley lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Rutten has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Rutten and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Buckley is working really hard to secure the rear naked choke. Rutten defends successfully for a significant amount of time. Both fighters are looking very determined.

Rutten is trying to get back to his feet but Buckley has full control of the position and if anything, Rutten has just worked his way into a worse spot.

Buckley wants to sweep here but Rutten controlling him for the moment.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Buckley is working an open guard so Rutten takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.

and Buckley counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Rutten!

Buckley has control of Rutten's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Rutten regains control of the situation pretty easily.
Rutten is controlling an arm, preventing Buckley from taking his back. Although keeping him in mount is no better to be honest.
Rutten keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
