Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Matt Roberts (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Thiago Alves (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Alves misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Alves tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Roberts paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Nice sprawl there from Roberts as Alves shoots in.
Roberts moves into the clinch successfully.

Roberts is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Alves is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Alves drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Alves jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

and Roberts counters with a nice double leg into side control. Alves won't be happy with that.
Roberts swings around for an armbar but Alves sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Roberts's guard.

A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Roberts, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
