Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Sid Thunder (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Robert Smith (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Smith has chosen Blink 182 feat Robert Smith - All of This as his entrance music. Sid Thunder has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 9 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Sid Thunder!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 11 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Robert Smith!
The judges for this bout are Alexandre Firmino, Matheus Silva and Mauricio Rocha.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Smith tries to score a power double leg takedown but Thunder sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Smith somewhat.
Smith uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Thunder.
Robert Smith seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Smith misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Thunder connects with a solid leg kick.

Smith gets the takedown into side control.
Thunder struggling a bit here.
Smith staying calm.
Thunder is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Smith off and has taken his back!

Thunder is trying to stick to Smith's back but Smith is turning into Thunder. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Thunder's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Smith.
Smith stands up over Thunder, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
Thunder is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Smith looking to sit in guard and control but Thunder gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Smith looking for a sweep. Not yet Smith, not yet.
Thunder trying to control the position from guard on top but Smith is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Smith throws a series of punches but Thunder moves out of range.
Smith throws out a token jab with nothing on it.

Thunder has Smith up against the cage in a clinch.
Smith has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Thunder avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.
Thunder slows down the pace here.
Smith goes for a takedown attempt but Thunder pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Sid Thunder has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Robert Smith.

Thunder tries to land a front kick but Smith steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.
Thunder throws a series of punches but Smith avoids them all with ease.
Thunder tries to clinch up but Smith circles away and keeps his distance.
Smith is looking to land body kicks.
Thunder displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Smith.
Thunder throws a sloppy head kick and Smith moves out of range easily.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Smith throws a series of punches but Thunder avoids them all with ease.
Smith shoots for a takedown but Thunder saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Thunder getting the better of the striking in that exchange.
Thunder slaps away a takedown attempt from Smith, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Smith throws a hook but Thunder blocks it.
Smith shoots for a double leg takedown but Thunder sprawls well. He's pushed Smith's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Smith fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Thunder manages to avoid it.
Smith stalks Thunder and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Thunder's face. Thunder staggers backwards, shaken.

Thunder gets a clinch.
Smith goes for a takedown in the clinch but Thunder prevents it.
Thunder is pushing Smith up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Sid Thunder dominated that round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


Thunder throws a jab when Smith was well out of range.
Thunder stuffs the takedown attempt from Smith. Smith gets slowly back to his feet.
Smith fails in his attempt to clinch.

Smith bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Thunder can't do much from the bottom here.
Thunder is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Smith off and has taken his back!

I really don't envy Smith right now.
Smith is very frustrated here, being controlled quite effectively by Thunder.
Smith rolls and manages to get back to half guard. Nicely done.
Smith works his way to full guard. Good work.

Thunder won't allow Smith to sweep him here.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Thunder throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Smith just misses with a punch to the body.
Smith shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Thunder defends it nicely.
Smith walks forward, straight into a front kick from Thunder.
Smith dodges the punch combination from Thunder.
A big left from Smith misses.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Smith fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Thunder manages to avoid it.
Smith stuffs the takedown.

Smith shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Thunder trying to hold on to Smith's head to control him but Smith postures up.

Smith is working for a kimura but Thunder is defending it quite comfortably.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Smith wants to free his trapped foot but Thunder is holding on for dear life with his legs.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close second round but Robert Smith will probably get the nod - 10:9.

Smith throws a combination that misses
and Thunder counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Smith avoids the body shot from Thunder.
Thunder listening to his corner there, landing a nice uppercut.
Smith looks for a takedown but Thunder sprawls well.
Smith throws a low kick, looking for Thunder's leg but Thunder calmly moves out of range.
An inside leg kick from Smith misses.
Thunder throws a body punch but Smith moves out of range.
Smith swings and misses with a hook to the body.

and Thunder counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.
Smith takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Smith swings away with a body shot that misses
and Thunder makes the exchange count by landing a cracking kick to the body. Smith really felt that one!

Thunder throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Smith was covering up waiting for the punch and Thunder finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Smith is still in real trouble! Can Thunder finish him?
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Smith seems to have recovered his senses.
Thunder slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.

Thunder stays in close to Smith's body and controls the position.
Thunder has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Smith throws a quick head kick that skims the top of Thunder's head.
A solid leg kick lands there for Smith.
Smith scores with a shot to the body.
Thunder will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.
Smith with a lazy takedown attempt
and Thunder counters with a two punch combo.
Sid Thunder has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Robert Smith.
Smith throws a looping overhand right but Thunder ducks down to avoid it.
Smith looks to throw a body kick
and Thunder counters with a thumping low kick.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Thunder tries to close the distance and clinch up but Smith swats him away and circles back towards the center.

And that's the end of the fight!
Sid Thunder showed his dominance in that final round.
I think Thunder has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
