The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
smalls throws a right and a left that both miss.

We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

smalls tries to bum rush Hill with a series of wild strikes but Hill uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

Hill feints and as smalls raises his hands in defense, Hill changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
smalls is looking to stand back up but Hill counters by passing into half guard. Oops... bit sloppy there by smalls.
Hill is figuring out what he wants to do next.
Let's hope that Hill has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

Despite being in the dominant position, Barry Hill just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
smalls tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Hill paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Hill is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in smalls's half guard.

In the post fight interviews he takes time to thank his parents and everyone who has believed in him from the start. How sweet.
