Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Nelson Liriano (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Craig Carter (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Carter has chosen Linkin Park - New Divide as his entrance music. Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.

With a record of 8 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Nelson Liriano!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Craig Carter!
The judges for this bout are Tiny Johnson, Alan Glass and George Francis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Liriano explodes with a nice body kick and back out of range. Nice work.

It looks like Craig Carter has been cut.
Liriano fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Carter manages to avoid it.

Liriano throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.

Carter changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Liriano looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Carter goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Liriano has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Carter but great work by Liriano.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.

Liriano comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.

Liriano throws a push kick but Carter slaps the foot to one side.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Liriano is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Carter throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.
Carter bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Liriano's head backwards.

Liriano keeps the fight on the outside.
Nelson Liriano is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Carter clinches up with Liriano and pushes him back against the cage.

Carter scores a nice knee to the body.

Carter turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Carter manages to end up in side control.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Craig Carter showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!


Liriano stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.

Carter looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Well, if Carter is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Carter throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Carter is keen to just control but Liriano is a slippery customer.

Carter is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Liriano sees it coming and defends easily.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Liriano keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
Carter wants to pass to mount but Liriano is defending the position.
Liriano is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Carter stuns Liriano with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Carter lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Liriano circles away quickly and effectively.
Liriano throws a series of punches but Carter avoids them all with ease.
Carter lands a two punch combo.


It looks like Nelson Liriano has been cut.
Liriano keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Carter.
Carter thumps Liriano with a low kick.
Liriano throws the kick towards the body but Carter avoids it.

Carter closes the distance and clinches.
Liriano prevents the takedown attempt.
Liriano is trying to break free.
Liriano tries to circle away but Carter has him pinned against the cage.

Carter breaks the clinch.
Liriano avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Liriano misses with a leg kick
and Carter counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Carter throws a leg kick which misses Liriano's front leg but catches the back leg as Liriano tries to avoid it.
Liriano stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Carter.
Carter throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Liriano sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Liriano moves forwards but Carter connects with a nice, crisp jab.
Liriano misses with a hook.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Carter.
A jab from Carter misses.
Carter misses with a double jab.
Liriano takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.
Carter shoots for a double leg takedown but Liriano sprawls well. He's pushed Carter's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Carter fails with an attempt to clinch.
Liriano lands a nice shot that snaps Carter's head back.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Carter.
Nelson Liriano has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Craig Carter.
Carter throws a big shot that misses.
Liriano scores with a shot to the body.
Nelson Liriano seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Liriano lands a jab.
Carter pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Nelson Liriano is winning the standup battle so far.

Liriano tries to land a front kick but Carter steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.

Liriano connects with a good right hand that stumbles Carter. Carter circles away out of range and recomposes himself.
Carter closes the distance and lands a one-two.
Craig Carter is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Carter catches Liriano with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong!

and Liriano makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.

Thud! ouch! good body kick from Liriano - that will leave a mark!
Liriano loads up on a big right hand but Carter slips the punch.
Carter's corner calls for a 1-2. Carter obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.
A lazy left from Liriano finds it's target.

Carter moves into the clinch.
Carter blocks a body shot from Liriano.
Carter lands a nice looking hook to the body, against the cage.
Liriano misses with a hook to the ribs.
Carter is trying to slow down the pace in the clinch, to catch his breath.

Carter breaks from the clinch.

Liriano gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Carter to score an easy takedown into full guard.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Carter is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.

And that's the end of the fight!
Craig Carter comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Carter has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
