Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Carlos Mendosa (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Steve Bastion (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Carlos Mendosa!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Steve Bastion!
The judges for this bout are Eliza Hachem, Donatello Bradman and Steve Erwin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bastion stuffs the takedown.

Mendosa closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Mendosa is putting a hurting on Bastion here, landing some big shots from side control.
Bastion is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.

Mendosa is working for a kimura but Bastion is defending it quite comfortably.
Bastion wants to control but Mendosa is keeping busy and won't allow it.

Bastion is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Mendosa pulls his head out easily.

Bastion swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Mendosa is now in Bastion's guard. A big mistake from Bastion there, giving up the dominant position!
Mendosa wants to control from the top but Bastion keeps moving.

Bastion isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Mendosa stacks Bastion on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Mendosa!

Mendosa is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Bastion knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Bastion tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Bastion has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Bastion wants to control but Mendosa is keeping him busy.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Mendosa is trying to control Bastion's posture but Bastion avoids it.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Mendosa doesn't succeed with the takedown

and Bastion counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Mendosa's guard now.

Bastion might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Mendosa kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

Steve Bastion comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Bastion has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
