PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Clayton Epp (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Sparky Jenkins (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying Jenkins's choice of entrance music: Burn it to the ground. Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Clayton Epp!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Sparky Jenkins!
The judges for this bout are William Peck, Dillan Fox and Yves DeLean.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jenkins shoots in for a takedown but Epp shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Epp leaves Jenkins with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

Clayton Epp has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Sparky Jenkins.

Jenkins decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.

Jenkins is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

Jenkins is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Epp defends it well.

Jenkins is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.

Epp is defending against the submission attempts here by Jenkins.
Epp is looking for a sweep. Jenkins is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Jenkins is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Epp is just riding it out for now. Jenkins eventually gives up the hold.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

and Jenkins counters with a shoot takedown. Epp fights it but they end up in guard.
Epp seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.

Jenkins drops back looking for a leg! Epp is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Epp manages to kick Jenkins off! Jenkins jumps back into Epp's guard.
Epp looking to sweep here. No luck so far.

Jenkins drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Jenkins jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Epp is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Epp on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Epp tries to get out of the position.

Jenkins is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


Jenkins shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Epp pinned against the cage. Epp gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Jenkins has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Epp can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Jenkins working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Epp doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Epp manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Jenkins is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Epp defends well.

Jenkins looking for a triangle here. Epp is fighting it but it looks tight! Jenkins pulls the arm across and this one won't last much longer! Nope, Epp is tapping out - this one is all over!
