Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Alex DeLarge (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Costa Theopolis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). DeLarge comes to the cage accompanied by You Shot Me Down by Nancy Sinatra. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
DeLarge avoids a punch combination nicely.
DeLarge shoots for a double leg takedown but Theopolis sprawls well. He's pushed DeLarge's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Theopolis bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.

DeLarge shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Theopolis is trying to defend but DeLarge finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.

DeLarge tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no DeLarge has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Costa Theopolis seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Theopolis connects with a good right hand that stumbles DeLarge. DeLarge circles away out of range and recomposes himself.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Theopolis is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.

DeLarge drops back, looking for a kneebar! Theopolis looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Theopolis looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Theopolis!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Theopolis is staying tight to DeLarge's torso, preventing him from escaping.
DeLarge is looking to reverse the position.

DeLarge is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Theopolis is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.
Theopolis really doesn't want to stay on the ground with DeLarge. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

DeLarge is trying to control Theopolis's posture but Theopolis avoids it.

Theopolis lands a big right hand and follows it up with an uppercut. Oh and another big punch and a knee - DeLarge can't take much more of this! Another big shot to the jaw from Theopolis and DeLarge drops to the floor. Beaten and bloodied - he had enough there. A vicious beatdown by Theopolis.
