Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Tony Rhodes (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jan Q (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Q has chosen Onward to victory as his entrance music. This should be a great matchup!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Tony Rhodes!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jan Q!
The judges for this bout are Elvis Blanc, Yves DeLean and Steve Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rhodes shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Q pinned against the cage. Q gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Rhodes scores a takedown into full mount!
Q is wriggling around trying to escape.
Q tries to hold on but Rhodes postures up.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Q is trying to get to the cage to help him get back to his feet.
Rhodes lands a nice shot to the head.


It looks like Jan Q has been cut.
Rhodes wants to control the pace but Q is squirming around nicely.
Rhodes controlling the pace for now.
Q can't escape the position.

Rhodes controlling from mount.

Q defends a decent attempt at a guillotine from Rhodes.
Q is trying desperately to improve position.
Rhodes looking to control and managing it successfully.
Rhodes prevents Q from getting the reversal.
Rhodes lands a big elbow.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Rhodes landing punches.
Q keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
Rhodes trying to control but Q is having none of it.
Q is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Rhodes could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Q has given up his back. Will we see Rhodes going for some submissions?

I really don't envy Q right now.

Q holding both Rhodes 's hands and preventing any damage.
Q really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Rhodes. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Rhodes doesn't have the hooks in and Q manages to turn into his guard.

Q connects with a couple of good shots from mount.
The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Q cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!

Rhodes bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done!

Rhodes wants to lay and pray for a moment but Q keeps working.

Rhodes misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Rhodes shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Q pinned against the cage. Q gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Q stuffs the takedown attempt from Rhodes. Rhodes gets slowly back to his feet.

Q is staying active underneath Rhodes, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Q is looking to escape.
Q trying to hold on to Rhodes's head to control him but Rhodes postures up.
Rhodes is tying to control. Q wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.

Q tries to regain full guard. Instead though, Rhodes has advanced to mount. Uh oh.

Rhodes swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Q is now in Rhodes's guard. A big mistake from Rhodes there, giving up the dominant position!

Q drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Q jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Rhodes is pulling down on Q's head to control his posture.
Q makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.

Q wants to lay and pray for a moment but Rhodes keeps working.
An elbow from Q crashes against the mat.
Rhodes manages to work his way to half guard, despite Q's best efforts.
Rhodes has hold of Q's hands but Q slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.
Rhodes is pressing down on Q's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
Tony Rhodes overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Q avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

Rhodes makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Rhodes.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!

Jan Q seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Rhodes chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Q can pounce on him.

Rhodes gets caught flat footed, as Q shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Q trying to control the position from guard on top but Rhodes is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Q is chipping away with strikes.

Q has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Ouch! a nice leg kick from Q, right into the meat.

Rhodes looks for a takedown but Q sprawls well.
Q closes the distance and clinches up with Rhodes, looking for a takedown. Q pushes Rhodes against the cage but Rhodes circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Rhodes wants to lay and pray for a moment but Q keeps working.

Rhodes stands up and beckons Q to his feet.

Rhodes feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Q has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Rhodes can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Q bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Rhodes's guard.

Rhodes has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Q can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Q wanted to stand there but Rhodes had control of the position.
Rhodes has Q pulled in close to control his posture.
Rhodes trying to keep a closed guard but Q is proving a slippery customer.
Q looking to control the position here, rather than advance.
Q must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Rhodes is trying to control the position from the bottom.

Jan Q has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

I would just about give that final round to Jan Q.
I think Rhodes has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
