Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Gale Tempest (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Takeshi Yamamoto (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Gale Tempest!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Takeshi Yamamoto!
The judges for this bout are Thiago Cunha, Seu Braga and Daniel Cesar.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Tempest fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Yamamoto avoids it really well and circles away.

Tempest changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Yamamoto looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Yamamoto can't do much from the bottom here.
Tempest happy to just control the position for now.
Yamamoto gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.
Tempest with a momentary lay and pray from half guard.
Yamamoto looks like he's trying to stand up.
Tempest wants to free his trapped foot but Yamamoto is holding on for dear life with his legs.

Yamamoto is staying active underneath Tempest, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Tempest tries to stand but his arm is trapped.
Tempest is controlling the pace.
Tempest knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Yamamoto on the ground.
Yamamoto is trying to stand up here but Tempest is controlling him well.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Tempest fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Yamamoto throws a leg kick but Tempest moved away.

Tempest closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Yamamoto to the mat! Yamamoto manages to get full guard.

Tempest avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

Yamamoto is looking for a triangle but Tempest pushes his legs off easily.
Yamamoto utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.

Tempest gets to his feet. Yamamoto looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!
Yamamoto tries to clinch there but Tempest circles away.
Yamamoto misses with a takedown attempt

and Tempest counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
Tempest wants to free his trapped foot but Yamamoto is holding on for dear life with his legs.
Yamamoto wants to get back to full guard.
Tempest is pressing down on Yamamoto's thigh, looking to free his foot. Yamamoto is holding on for now.

Yamamoto looking for subs from the bottom but Tempest mounts him!
Tempest is breathing heavily.
Tempest connects with a couple of good shots from mount.

Tempest lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.
Tempest could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

Tempest goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Yamamoto turns into him and now he's in Tempest's guard.
Tempest is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.
Tempest looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Yamamoto puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.
Yamamoto wants to take a breather but Tempest is having none of it.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Gale Tempest dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Tempest moves out of range as Yamamoto throws a body kick.
Gale Tempest is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Tempest throws the kick towards the body but Yamamoto avoids it.
Yamamoto tries to clinch there but Tempest circles away.
Yamamoto pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Tempest tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Yamamoto paws at him with a jab and circles away.

and Tempest counters by moving into the clinch.
Yamamoto is struggling to control the position.

Tempest has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Yamamoto is trying to keep an underhook but Tempest manages to get the takedown into half guard.

Yamamoto has a hand on Tempest's thigh, trying to get back to full guard. Tempest takes advantage of the position though and mounts him!
Tempest breaks from Yamamoto's wrist control and lands an elbow.

Tempest is landing with some decent strikes but Yamamoto is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.

Yamamoto tries to hold on but Tempest postures up.

Tempest goes for an armbar but Yamamoto turns quickly into his guard - lovely anticipation from Yamamoto.

Gale Tempest overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Tempest pulls Yamamoto in close to prevent any damage.
Tempest can't keep his opponent in guard - Yamamoto advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Tempest tries to roll over but Yamamoto keeps him under control.
Yamamoto scoring with strikes to the body and head.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Yamamoto decides to return to a standing position.

and Tempest counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Tempest.
Yamamoto misses with some punches.

Yamamoto wants a takedown but no success here.
Gale Tempest has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Takeshi Yamamoto.
Yamamoto is breathing heavily.
Yamamoto gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Tempest.
Yamamoto jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Tempest walks away with a smile on his face. Yamamoto gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Tempest shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Yamamoto as he jumps to the side.

Yamamoto seems a little lost for a moment, as Tempest dominates the positioning.
Sloppy strikes there by Tempest.
Yamamoto sneaks back into half guard.
Tempest stalling away here and it's allowed Yamamoto to slip out his trapped foot and regain full guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Gale Tempest dominated that second round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!


Tempest doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Yamamoto counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.

Yamamoto moves into the clinch.
Yamamoto trying to land knees to the body.
A looping hook to the body misses from Tempest. Yamamoto does a little dance to reset his feet.
Yamamoto fails with the takedown

and Tempest counters with a nice double leg into guard.
Tempest pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Yamamoto is keeping the position for now.

Tempest decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
Yamamoto clinches but Tempest breaks the clinch

and Tempest counters with a takedown into side control.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Yamamoto prevents Tempest from moving into mount.

Tempest controls the position.
Yamamoto manages to get back to half guard.
Yamamoto wants to improve his position but Tempest is controlling well.
Yamamoto is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Tempest's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Tempest's back!

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Tempest rolls and manages to get back to half guard. Nicely done.
Yamamoto thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Tempest's head.
Yamamoto seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.
Tempest tries to get to full guard but Yamamoto has control of the leg.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.

Tempest closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Yamamoto is not content to let Tempest control the position.
Yamamoto is trying to get back to his feet.

Tempest is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Yamamoto is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Tempest wants to control but Yamamoto is keeping him busy.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Yamamoto is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Tempest off and has taken his back!
Yamamoto throws a big right hand but he misses and hits the mat. Ouch.
Tempest avoids the strikes from Yamamoto.
Yamamoto is landing with strikes from the back.

Yamamoto trying desperately to keep hold of the dominant position.
Yamamoto is controlling the position but Tempest somehow manages to roll and ends up with half guard.
Takeshi Yamamoto has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Gale Tempest is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Tempest is trying to maintain the position but Yamamoto is very close to passing his half guard.

And that's the end of the fight!
Gale Tempest showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Tempest, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
