PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Alec Jones (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Duke Malfoy (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jones's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, Victory. I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

The judges for this bout are Bruno Lombardi, Franklyn Lucas and Chad Campbell.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jones throws a right and a left that both miss.
Jones fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Malfoy avoids it really well and circles away.
Jones throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Malfoy.
Jones feints and then cracks Malfoy's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Malfoy down.
A left lands for Malfoy.
Jones throws out a loose jab but Malfoy uses good head movement to avoid it.
Malfoy thows a body kick. Jones tries to catch it but that hurt him.
Jones throws a shot from downtown. Malfoy moves away and avoids it.
Malfoy walks into a left hand.
Duke Malfoy seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Malfoy walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Malfoy throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Malfoy looks to land a combination but Jones avoids it well.
No luck for Jones with that takedown attempt.

Jones shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
Jones pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Malfoy is keeping the position for now.
Malfoy not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Malfoy is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.

Malfoy tries to land a sweep but no joy.

Jones stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Malfoy swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Malfoy wants to sweep here but Jones controlling him for the moment.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Malfoy ducks under a wild hook from Jones.
Jones throws a lazy body kick

and Malfoy counters into the clinch. Nicely done.
Malfoy gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Jones.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Alec Jones. That's going to take a lot out of him.
A body shot lands from Malfoy.
Jones is breathing heavily.
Malfoy lands a knee to the head.
Malfoy misses with a knee strike.

Jones breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Malfoy.
Malfoy cracks a nice hook into Jones's ribs.

Malfoy has closed the distance and engaged Jones in a clinch.

Malfoy is trying to wear down his opponent with knees to the body.
Malfoy with the Thai clinch, lands a knee to the head.
Jones takes a shot to the head.

Malfoy pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Malfoy lands a head kick. Jones smiles back at him and beckons him forward.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Jones sees a low kick coming and goes to check it, but it's actually a body kick and it thuds into his unprotected ribs.

Malfoy scores with a decent looking hook.
Jones showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Malfoy.
Malfoy scores to the head and body with a nice combination!
Jones is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Malfoy.

Jones is rocked!
I'm just looking down at my notes here and I see that.... oh! Malfoy has cracked Jones with a big right, followed by a left! He's out on his feet! Malfoy lands another huge swinging hook and Jones tumbles to the canvas! The ref dives in to save Jones, before Malfoy can land any more shots!
