Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Maurizio Pekkarinen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rafael Cordeiro (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Cordeiro has chosen Perry Mason as his entrance music. Maurizio Pekkarinen has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Rafael Cordeiro!
The judges for this bout are Felipe Paraventi, Leandro Rodrigues and Paulo Santos.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
The fight stays on the outside here - Pekkarinen looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Cordeiro is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Pekkarinen's half guard.
Cordeiro prevents Pekkarinen from improving his position.
Pekkarinen wants to control but Cordeiro is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Cordeiro throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.

Cordeiro thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Pekkarinen's head.

Cordeiro is going olschool here, as he tries to force Pekkarinen to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Pekkarinen shrugs it off.

Pekkarinen is pushing down on Cordeiro's leg trying to pass to half guard. Cordeiro is fighting to maintain full guard but Pekkarinen has managed to sneak the leg through.

Pekkarinen moves in looking to clinch but Cordeiro pushes him off.
Cordeiro on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Pekkarinen. Pekkarinen obviously looking to wear him down.
No luck for Cordeiro with that takedown attempt.
Cordeiro takes a kick to the body and keeps moving.
Rafael Cordeiro seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Pekkarinen feints and as Cordeiro raises his hands in defense, Pekkarinen changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Pekkarinen tries to free his leg and advance position but Cordeiro is retaining full guard.

Pekkarinen drives through and clinches with Cordeiro against the cage.
Cordeiro is trying to drag Pekkarinen to the mat but Pekkarinen just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
Maurizio Pekkarinen has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Rafael Cordeiro.
Cordeiro blocks a couple of punches on the inside.
Cordeiro is pressed up against the cage. Pekkarinen has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Cordeiro down to the mat. Cordeiro avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.

Pekkarinen tries to pull guard but Cordeiro holds him up against the cage and eventually Pekkarinen drops back down to his feet.

Cordeiro closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.

Cordeiro shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Pekkarinen defends it nicely.
Cordeiro shoots in and drives through. Pekkarinen sprawls well.

Pekkarinen uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Cordeiro.

Cordeiro breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Pekkarinen scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.
Cordeiro wants to control but Pekkarinen is keeping busy and won't allow it.

Pekkarinen has decided to stand back up but his arm is trapped. Whilst he's worrying about his arm, Cordeiro works to full guard.

and Pekkarinen counters with a kick to the head that grazes his opponent. Cordeiro is lucky that one didn't land flush.

Pekkarinen closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Pekkarinen lands in his opponent's guard.

Pekkarinen tries to stand but his hand is stuck under Cordeiro.

Cordeiro is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Pekkarinen's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Pekkarinen's back!
Cordeiro is looking to finish with some ground and pound!

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
