PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Ruben Calderin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ross Pearson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Ross Pearson told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Ruben Calderin!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

It looks like Ross Pearson has been cut.
Pearson throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Pearson looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.

Pearson tries to clinch but Calderin moves out of range.

Calderin clinches with his opponent.
Pearson tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Calderin smiles and moves away.

Calderin shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Calderin was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
This has been an exciting period of action!

Pearson's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up.

Calderin wants to finish this one by submission but Pearson is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Calderin.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Pearson is controlling an arm, preventing Calderin from taking his back. Although keeping him in mount is no better to be honest.
Calderin lands a big shot there that rocks Pearson but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.

That was a close round but I would say that Ruben Calderin will probably get the nod.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

Calderin changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Pearson looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Pearson is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Calderin has just dragged him back down to the mat.

That was a close second round but I would say that Ruben Calderin will probably get the nod.

I would just about give that final round to Ross Pearson.
