Evans comes into the arena with P.O.D. - The Messenjah blaring out of the sound system. Drake has chosen Blitzkrieg Bop as his entrance music. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the welterweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Dwayne Evans!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Nick Drake!
The judges for this bout are Donatello Bradman, Hugh Johnson and Skip Squint.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Evans avoids a kick to the body.

It looks like Dwayne Evans has been cut.
Drake misses with a jab, cross combination.
Drake missing with a left hand there. Evans was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
Drake throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Evans shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Drake as he avoids it easily.
Evans shoots for a takedown but Drake saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Drake connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son.
Nick Drake seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Drake throws a big shot that misses.

Drake tries to bum rush Evans with a series of wild strikes but Evans uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

Drake throws a series of punches but Evans avoids them all with ease.
Drake showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Evans.
Drake throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Drake will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Evans has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him.

Evans tries to score with an inside leg kick but telegraphs it and Drake is able to avoid easily.
Evans blocks a jab.
Drake looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.

Dwayne Evans's cut is getting worse.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Drake thows a body shot but no joy.
Evans gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Drake.
Drake misses with a hook. Evans ducked under it nicely.

No joy there for Drake, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Evans closes the distance and clinches up with Drake, looking for a takedown. Evans pushes Drake against the cage but Drake circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Dwayne Evans. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Evans changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Drake tries to avoid it but Evans manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Drake to the ground. Drake escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Nick Drake is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Drake misses with a leg kick
and Evans counters with a left and a right that stings Drake.
Drake stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Drake wants it to stay on the feet.
Evans throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Drake counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Evans walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.

Drake looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.

Evans uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Drake.
Evans shoots in and drives through. Drake sprawls well.
Evans slips under a jab.
Drake lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Evans at a distance.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Drake misses with a double jab
and Evans counters with a straight punch to the midsection.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Drake misses with a hook. Evans ducked under it nicely.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Nick Drake dominated that round.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.



Drake lands a left and a right that send Evans crashing to the mat, dazed. Drake thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet!


Evans is rocked!
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Drake misses the jab.
Drake misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Evans.

Evans gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.
Still in the clinch, Drake scores with a nice short uppercut.
Evans fails to pull the fight into his guard.
The referee calls for Drake to work.
The crowd are getting on Drake's back here. They're not happy about his lack of aggression in the clinch.
This is turning into a torrid day at the office for Evans. He's trying desperately to land a takedown but he's failing miserably and getting slapped silly on the feet to compound his misery.
Drake gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Evans.

A frustrated look appears on Drake's face as he tries to break the clinch.

Drake lands a shot to the body.

Jeez, Dwayne Evans's cut is really nasty now. The referee must be thinking about getting that checked.
Drake digs a right hand into Evans's ribs. Those have got to be taking their toll on Evans's gas tank.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
