Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Josh Pulver (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and John Williams (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Josh Pulver!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, John Williams!
The judges for this bout are Franklyn Lucas, Dean Styles and Lou da Vinci.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Williams misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Pulver.
Williams fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Pulver manages to avoid it.
Williams slips under a jab from Pulver.
Williams with a body punch. A glancing blow.
Williams thows a body shot but no joy.
Pulver swings for the body but Williams moves out of range.
Some bone on bone action there as Williams checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one.
Pulver walks into a left hand.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Pulver takes a shot to the body in his stride.
Williams fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Pulver avoids it really well and circles away.
Pulver tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Williams throws a predictable looking body shot

and Pulver counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Williams!
Williams regains half guard.

Pulver wants to work for an arm triangle but Williams is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Pulver is breathing heavily.
Williams wants to get back to full guard.
Pulver thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Williams won't allow Pulver to pass to mount.
Pulver has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Williams throws a strike from the bottom that misses.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Pulver lands a nice short elbow.
Williams keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Williams gets full guard.
Williams is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Williams landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.
Williams wants to control but Pulver is keeping him busy.

Williams seems like he's working for an arm triangle here. He's freed his trapped foot and he's rotating nicely. Pulver is in big trouble! He's tapping out! This one is aaaaaaaaaaaall over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:40 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Arm Triangle). John Williams!
