PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Bruce Banner (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Troy Tyson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Tyson has chosen Last Man Standing as his entrance music. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 4 - 0, fighting out of New York, Troy Tyson!
The judges for this bout are Dean Styles, Lou da Vinci and Bruno Lombardi.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Tyson throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.
Tyson defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Banner.
Banner throws a right and a left that Tyson avoids nicely.
Banner moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.


It looks like Bruce Banner has been cut.
Tyson is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.

Oooh a lovely combination from Banner sends Tyson down but not out. Banner dives into side control looking to finish.


Tyson is rocked!


It looks like Troy Tyson has been cut.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Tyson is trying to control Banner's posture but Banner avoids it.

Banner working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
Banner cracks Tyson with a big right hand but Tyson just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.
Tyson manages to work his way to half guard, despite Banner's best efforts.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Well, if Banner is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
Banner looks to land a strike but Tyson avoids it nicely and regains full guard.

Banner is looking to work some ground and pound but Tyson has wrist control.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Tyson manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Banner manages to get himself to full guard.
Banner has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.

Banner looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Banner shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Tyson as he avoids it easily.
Tyson throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Banner loads up on a big right hand but Tyson slips the punch.
Tyson ducks under a wild hook from Banner.
Banner throws a hook to the side of Tyson's head but Tyson sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Banner tries for a takedown but Tyson sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Banner throws a head kick but Tyson moves out of range.
Tyson slips a straight right by Banner.
Banner stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Tyson misses with a series of wild punches.
Banner shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Tyson defends it nicely.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Bruce Banner. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Banner shoots in looking for a takedown. Tyson tries to sprawl out of it but Banner keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Tyson manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Banner closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Tyson did well to prevent Banner getting side control.

and Tyson counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.

Banner fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Tyson sprawls well initially but Banner persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

Banner stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Tyson swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Banner tries to score a power double leg takedown but Tyson sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Banner somewhat.
