Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Mirko Cro (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and John Johnson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Johnson has chosen Scream - Avenged Sevenfold as his entrance music. The fight MMA fans around the world have waited their entire lives for!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Mirko Cro!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, John Johnson!
The judges for this bout are Alec Ball, Elvis Blanc and Ian Loll.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cro misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Cro looks exhausted already! Oh dear, he should have come in in better shape than this!
Cro shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Johnson as he jumps to the side.

Johnson closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Johnson lands in his opponent's guard.

Cro has his foot on Johnson's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Johnson works his way back into a safe position though.
Johnson sitting in guard, not really doing much.
Cro could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Johnson really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Cro. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Johnson pushes down on Cro's leg and manages to get into half guard.
Johnson is controlling the pace.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Cro trying to control from the bottom.
Cro tries to get to full guard but Johnson has control of the leg.
Cro is pressing down on Johnson's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
Johnson must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Johnson stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Cro swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Johnson won't allow Cro to sweep him here.

Johnson tries to free his leg and advance position but Cro is retaining full guard.
Cro throws a couple of weedy looking strikes off his back.
Cro looking to sweep here. No luck so far.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Cro misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Cro misses with a body shot.
Cro throws a push kick but Johnson slaps the foot to one side.

Johnson bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Cro tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Johnson wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Johnson just content to control the position.
Cro tries to slip a leg under to move to half guard but Johnson presses down on the leg and jumps into full mount!

Cro tries to hold on but Johnson postures up.
Cro tries to reverse the position but Johnson maintains control.
Johnson controlling his opponent.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

John Johnson dominated that round.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Cro misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

Johnson darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Cro is trying to get back to full guard.
Johnson moves nicely into side control.
Johnson controlling the position.
Cro is looking to reverse the position.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Johnson controlling the position.
Cro is trying to control Johnson's posture but Johnson avoids it.
Johnson controls the position.
Johnson gets to mount! Cro was on the offensive and wasn't defending properly.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Cro can't escape the position.
Johnson takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Let's hope that Johnson has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

Cro tries to improve his position but instead Johnson has taken his back!
So, who will make the next big move? In this position it could be crucial.
Cro tries to escape but Johnson has the hooks in and won't let him break free.
Cro is being controlled on the ground here - he must escape this position otherwise surely the end is near.
Cro wants to get back to his feet.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
What can Cro do to escape this position? He's going to have to figure it out pretty quick if he wants to stay in the fight!
Cro wants to control his opponent's hands but Johnson gets his hands free.
Cro wants to escape the position.
Johnson is controlling his opponent, waiting for an opportunity to finish.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Despite being in the dominant position, John Johnson just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Cro tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Johnson keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Cro.
Some wild striking there from Cro.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

John Johnson showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! This is the final round!


Cro throws a head kick but Johnson moves out of range.

Johnson drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Cro tries to control but Johnson manages to take his back.
Cro tries to escape the position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
What can Cro do to escape this position? He's going to have to figure it out pretty quick if he wants to stay in the fight!
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Johnson is not going to allow Cro to sit and survive in this position.
Johnson has good solid back control here.
I really don't envy Cro right now.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
A bit of a pause in the action here. Johnson controlling the positon.
Cro rolls and manages to get back to half guard. Nicely done.
Cro wants to sweep but Johnson has passed to side control!

Cro sneaks back into half guard.

Cro wants to get back to full guard but Johnson has mounted him!

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Cro can't escape the position.
Johnson controlling the pace for now.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Cro manages to regain half guard. Good work.
Cro trying to get back to full guard but Johnson takes advantage of the position and moves to full mount!

Cro swinging wildly from the bottom but he's not landing.
Mirko Cro has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Cro throwing hammer fists to the chest of Johnson. What's that going to do exactly?

John Johnson comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Johnson has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
