PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Quinton Hach (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and John Doe (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). John Doe will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 2 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Quinton Hach!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, John Doe!
The judges for this bout are Yukihiro Shimada, Shigeki Sano and Tatsuya Matsuyama.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hach tries to clinch up.

Hach looking for a takedown here - he's got it.
Hach working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Doe looking to hit a scissor sweep but Hach is one step ahead there.

Doe looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Doe looks gassed!
Hach trying to control but Doe is working from the bottom.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Hach stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Doe swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Doe can't keep his opponent in guard - Hach advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.

Doe avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Hach.
Hach seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Doe does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Hach gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Doe preventing the sweep.
Doe wants to stand and escape but instead Hach has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.
Hach working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Doe's head.

Hach is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Doe is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Doe has escaped and now he's on top!
Doe wants to stand but Hach has a closed guard, so he can't escape.

Doe gets to his feet - Hach follows without any prompting.
Doe looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Doe staying out of range there.

and Doe counters with a two punch combo.
Hach tries to clinch up.
Doe fails with the takedown

and Hach counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Doe's guard now.

Doe bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Hach's guard.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.
Hach manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Doe manages to get himself to full guard.
Doe is trying to hold Hach in close to prevent damage but Hach has managed to pass into half guard.
Hach is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Doe!
Hach connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head.
Hach throws a sloppy head kick and Doe moves out of range easily.
John Doe seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Doe fails with the takedown

and Hach counters with a nice double leg into side control. Doe won't be happy with that.

Hach is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Doe knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Hach advances nicely into full mount.
Hach lands a heavy elbow.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Hach trying to control but Doe is having none of it.
Doe is trying to reverse the position but instead Hach has taken his back - oops!

Hach working for a RNC but it's not happening just yet.
Doe looking very determined here, making life difficult for Hach.

Doe trying to control the action but Hach just sinks the hooks in.
Doe controlling the position well but he knows he's in a bad position.

Hach is looking for a rear naked choke here but Doe reverses the position brilliantly into Hach's guard!

Doe stands up and waves to Hach to follow him.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Hach throws a front kick that sends Doe stumbling back into the ropes.
A jab from Hach does it's job there.
Hach throws a combination that misses

and Doe counters with a shoot takedown. Hach fights it but they end up in guard.

Doe avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Hach controls Doe momentarily but Doe frees himself.

Hach working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Doe doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Doe manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Hach looking to hit a scissor sweep but Doe is one step ahead there.
Hach has a closed guard, preventing Doe from standing up.

Hach wants to sweep here but Doe controlling him for the moment.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Hach has an active guard here but Doe has managed to pass into half guard.
Doe wants to lay and pray for a moment but Hach keeps working.
Hach is trying to get back to full guard.
Hach moves into full guard.

Hach throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.

Doe looking to sit in guard and control but Hach gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Hach stands and steps away. Doe gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
The fight stays on the outside here - Doe looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Hach tries to clinch up.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

so Hach counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Quinton Hach has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of John Doe.
Doe is pulling down on Hach's head. It's preventing any offense from Hach, at least for the moment.
Hach works a leg free and moves into half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!



Hach shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Hach showed some decent athleticism there.
Hach wants to free his trapped foot but Doe is holding on for dear life with his legs.
Hach seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Doe does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Doe is trying to maintain the position but Hach is very close to passing his half guard.
Doe is breathing heavily.

Hach keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Doe's head.

Hach tries to advance to mount but Doe instead regains half guard.

Hach is trying to work for a kimura. He's got his hands clasped together - this could be trouble! No, Doe has managed to free his arm - good work.

Doe controls Hach momentarily but Hach frees himself.
Hach scores with a decent looking elbow strike.

The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.
Doe wants to control but Hach is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Doe works his way to full guard. Good work.

Hach works a leg free and moves into half guard.
Hach working over Doe with some ground and pound. Doe looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable.
Hach tries to pass the half guard into mount. Doe knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
Doe is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Doe is pressing down on Hach's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
Hach slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Hach stands and throws Doe's legs to the side, diving into side control.

Hach swings around for an armbar but Doe sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Hach's guard.

Doe controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Hach is looking to stand up but Doe isn't so interested in that idea.
Hach is trying to control the position but Doe postures up.
Hach trying to punch from his back but it's not doing any damage.

Doe has a momentary lapse of concentration, allowing Hach to throw up a leg and lock on what appears to be a pretty tight triangle! Doe is fighting it off but it's all too little too late - Hach pulls down on the head and he's put Doe to sleep! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 7:05 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Quinton Hach!
