PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Marley Namaste (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Heratio Cane (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Cane has chosen Devil in me as his entrance music. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Marley Namaste!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Heratio Cane!
The judges for this bout are Radbod Blank, Paulsen Ambrosius and Paul Aken.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Namaste avoids a lazy jab quite easily.

Namaste looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Cane!
Cane is wriggling around trying to escape.
Namaste looking to ground and pound his opponent to a finish here.
Cane is wriggling around trying to escape.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Namaste throwing shots from mount but they're not landing.
Cane is really trying hard to get back to his feet.

Namaste is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Cane is surviving well by controlling Namaste's body position as best he can.
Cane can't escape the position.
Cane really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Namaste. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Cane is in a horrible position here, under a barrage of strikes, he's managing to avoid any damage.
Namaste can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Cane is looking to escape.

Namaste working to secure an arm triangle but it's not happening for him just yet.
Namaste connects with a couple of good shots from mount.
Namaste putting on the heat here with some good ground and pound!

Namaste working for a guillotine from mount but Cane is in no mood to give up.
Cane is in a horrible position here. Namaste smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.
Namaste wants to control the pace but Cane is squirming around nicely.

Cane has worked his way to half guard, taking advantage of Namaste's lack of action.
Cane trying to control but Namaste postures up.
Namaste is keen to just control but Cane is a slippery customer.
Cane has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Namaste is working away from the top position though.
Namaste passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Cane!
Namaste with shots to the head and body - Cane looks very uncomfortable down there.

Namaste looking to secure an arm triangle but Cane defends it well.
Cane wriggling around on the bottom manages to avoid the strikes thrown by Namaste.
Namaste has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Namaste tries to control but Cane wriggling away.
Namaste misses with a head shot.
Namaste throws some wild stikes that Cane manages to avoid easily.
Namaste takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Namaste thowing shots but they're missing.

Cane defends a decent attempt at a guillotine from Namaste.

Namaste is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Cane can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
Cane holding onto his opponent's waist for dear life, as Namaste tries to land some strikes to get him to release his grip.
Cane regains half guard.
Namaste wants to pass to mount but Cane is defending the position.

Namaste is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Marley Namaste dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Cane works the jab nicely.
Cane rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Namaste moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Heratio Cane seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Namaste showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Cane.
Namaste drops his hands momentarily and Cane takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.
Namaste slips a jab and a cross from Cane.
Namaste ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Cane throws a right and a left that Namaste avoids nicely.
Cane swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.

Namaste shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Namaste showed some decent athleticism there.

Namaste wants to work for an arm triangle but Cane is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Cane is breathing heavily.

Cane is trying to stand up here but Namaste is controlling him well.
Namaste sitting and controlling from the half guard.
Namaste prevents Cane from improving his position.
Cane avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Namaste.
Namaste wants to take a breather but Cane is having none of it.

Namaste is working for a submission of some sort.
Namaste thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Namaste is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Cane doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Namaste.
Namaste prevents Cane from standing back up.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Namaste lands a nice short elbow.

Namaste is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Cane sees it coming and defends easily.
Namaste wants to take a breather but Cane is having none of it.

Namaste is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
Namaste sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Cane defending well though.
Cane is trying to control but can't.

Namaste in half guard on the top. He's looking for a kimura... He's got it locked and he's managed to free his trapped foot. Cane tries to escape but it's on too tight and he has to tap! Great BJJ skills there from Namaste!
