The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Fedorov looks to land a combination but The Impaler avoids it well.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

That was a close round but I would say that Sergei Fedorov will probably get the nod.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.
Fedorov darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Fedorov could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
The Impaler has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Fedorov is working away from the top position though.

The Impaler is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

The Impaler stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Fedorov swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
The Impaler gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Fedorov counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in The Impaler's guard now.
Fedorov might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
The Impaler pulls Fedorov in close to his closed guard and prevents Fedorov from doing any damage or advancing position.

The Impaler takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
