Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Ken Shamerock (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jim McBride (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Shamerock swats away the attempt to clinch by McBride.
Shamerock looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? McBride is fending him off so far but Shamerock persists. Nope, McBride circles away and we're back to standing.
McBride keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.

McBride wants to advance to full mount but Shamerock doesn't think that's going to happen and regains full guard instead.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Shamerock has his feet on McBride's hips. He pushes off and gets to his feet. Nice work.
Jim McBride seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
McBride moves in looking to clinch but Shamerock pushes him off.

McBride rushes Shamerock and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.

McBride's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Shamerock is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Ken Shamerock. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Shamerock is pressed up against the cage. McBride has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Shamerock down to the mat. Shamerock avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Shamerock darts in and clinches McBride up against the cage.

Shamerock jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as McBride walks away with a smile on his face. Shamerock gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Shamerock tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but McBride swivels and escapes.
McBride misses with the combination.
McBride closes the distance but Shamerock moves to the side

and Shamerock counters by clinching up.
McBride scores with a nice hook to the head.

Shamerock breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Shamerock misses with an attempted mid kick.
Shamerock throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Shamerock shoots for a double leg takedown but McBride sprawls well. He's pushed Shamerock's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
McBride will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

McBride drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
McBride has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

McBride has hold of Shamerock's arm. He's looking for a kimura. Shamerock seems comfortable defending it but McBride has shifted his position slighty and is cranking on the arm! Shamerock is real pain and he's forced to tap out! Shamerock is disgusted with himself for not defending it better but McBride couldn't care less - he's delighted!
