The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Costa moves into the clinch.

Costa jumps guard.
We're hearing some news coming in from back stage. It's official - Sparkles has eaten all the pies!
Costa has Sparkles pulled in close to control his posture.
Costa on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Costa tries to get out of the position.

Costa had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Sparkles is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Costa Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Sparkles's back instead.
Sparkles breaks Costa's hooks off and manages to turn into his guard.

Sparkles drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Sparkles jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Sparkles stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Costa swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Costa wriggles free and stands up.

Costa shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Sparkles napping and manages to drive through into side control!

Sparkles tries to buck Costa off but Costa is having none of it.

Costa knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Sparkles on the ground.
Sparkles is looking for a sweep. Costa is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
