PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Kyle Rees (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mike Havok (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the fighters buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Kyle Rees!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Mike Havok!
The judges for this bout are Alan Glass, Robert Twigg and Gwen Towbar.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Rees.
Rees really is a fat lump.
Havok looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight!
Rees lands with a head kick! That's gotta hurt.

Rees shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Havok's guard.
Rees sitting in guard, not really doing much.
Rees pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Havok is keeping the position for now.
Rees stands up over Havok, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
Rees postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Rees seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Havok has momentary wrist control but Rees slips an elbow through the middle.

Rees decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Havok, up you get!
Rees shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Havok as he jumps to the side.

Rees forces Havok back against the cage and clinches.

That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Kyle Rees. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Havok wants to get back to striking at distance but Rees won't allow it.
Rees has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Havok avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.
Rees changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Havok fights it off and pushes away nicely.

Rees misses with an attempted head punch from side control.

Rees tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Rees has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Rees wants to lay and pray for a moment but Havok keeps working.
Havok is pushing Rees's head away, looking to escape. Rees manages to hold on to the position though.

Havok is not content to let Rees control the position.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Havok lands with a nice combination. Rees backs away looking to recover.
Rees fails with a takedown attempt.
Rees tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.

Rees shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Rees was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Havok is in a horrible position here. Rees smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.

Rees cracks Havok with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.

Rees has hold of Havok's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Havok manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
Havok takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position.

Rees takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Rees lands a heavy elbow.
Rees controlling the pace for now.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The referee stands the fighters back up. Kyle Rees just wasn't active enough from the dominant position.

Mike Havok is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Havok is pushing Rees's head away, looking to escape. Rees manages to hold on to the position though.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's time! Rees's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Havok throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Rees.
Havok swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.

Rees decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Rees takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.

Rees is looking for a kimura but Havok is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Rees to get the leverage.
Havok is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Rees scores with a couple of nice shots.
Rees wants to pass the guard but Havok is defending well.

Rees is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Havok is just riding it out for now. Rees eventually gives up the hold.

Kyle Rees is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Rees closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Havok to the mat! Havok manages to get full guard.
Havok is looking to stand up but Rees isn't so interested in that idea.
Rees trying to control the position from guard on top but Havok is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Rees seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Havok for as long as he can get away with.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for leaving it all in the cage!

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!


Rees looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Havok is fending him off so far but Rees persists. Nope, Havok circles away and we're back to standing.
Horrible takedown by Rees or perhaps it was just good defense by Havok which made him look bad.

Rees is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Havok can do to turn this around?

Rees closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

Rees is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Havok defends it well.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Rees.

Rees is in a dominant position here, looking for a kimura. Havok looks calm but he's in trouble here. Rees gets his head over his opponent's head and yanks on the arm. Havok is tapping like a morse code operator on the titanic! SOS! SOS! Rees lets go of the hold and Havok can pop his arm back in it's socket.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:52 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Kyle Rees!
