PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Braulio Estima (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Matt Serra (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Braulio Estima!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Matt Serra!
The judges for this bout are Sam Margolis, James Glass and William Gold.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Estima looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Serra!

Estima is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Serra can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.

Estima is going olschool here, as he tries to force Serra to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Serra shrugs it off.
Serra wants to hold on but Estima pushes him away.

Estima goes for an armbar but he's fallen flat on his backside there and now Serra is on top in guard.

Serra got a little sloppy there for a moment and Estima has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Serra has managed to get both his arms back between Estima's legs - danger averted.
Estima keeping moving, preventing Serra from controlling successfully.

Estima looking for a guillotine here but Serra defends easily.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Serra accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Estima will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Serra working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Estima's head.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Estima is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Serra is aware though and is defending well.
Estima is breathing heavily.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Serra accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Estima is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Serra trying to control but Estima is working from the bottom.

Estima isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Serra stacks Estima on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Serra!
Estima takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better.
Estima is not content to let Serra control the position.
Estima is being controlled here.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Estima is looking to reverse the position.
Estima is letting Serra control him for a moment.
Serra lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Estima down.
Estima taking punishment in the form of punches.

Serra decides to take the fight back to the feet.
Serra throws a shot to the body.
Serra lands with a kick to the ribs.

Serra darts in and clinches Estima up against the cage.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Serra jumps into guard, dragging Estima to the mat.
Serra wants to sweep here but Estima controlling him for the moment.

Serra uses the cage to get back to his feet.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
A left lands for Serra.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Serra.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Estima on the wrong end of some ground and pound.

Serra is working for what looks like an arm triangle here. Estima is trying to escape and Serra transitions quickly into an armbar! He's slapped it on tight and Estima is forced to tap! Nice work there by Serra! Very nice indeed!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:48 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Matt Serra!
