Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Eddie Purcell Jr!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Sid Sydney!
The judges for this bout are Eliza Hachem, Damien Edna and Bruno Hogan.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Purcell Jr misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Sydney.
Purcell Jr looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.

and Sydney counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Purcell Jr!

Sydney looking to secure an arm triangle but Purcell Jr defends it well.
Sydney lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Sydney throwing shots from mount but they're not landing.
Purcell Jr wants to use the cage to get back to his feet here.
Purcell Jr tries to lock up and control but Sydney gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Sydney with the ground and pound from mount.
A nice elbow there by Sydney.

Sydney working for a submission but Purcell Jr is keeping him at bay.
Sydney misses with a series of strikes from mount. He'll no doubt be working on his ground and pound when he gets back to the gym.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Sydney is working for a guillotine from mount but Purcell Jr frees his head quite easily.
Purcell Jr really wants to buck Sydney off and get back to his feet.

Sydney is going olschool here, as he tries to force Purcell Jr to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Purcell Jr shrugs it off.
Sydney cracks Purcell Jr with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.

Purcell Jr has left one of his arms exposed and Sydney doesn't need a second invitation. He's isolated it and locked on a tight armbar. Purcell Jr screams and taps out, obviously in a lot of pain. Hopefully there isn't permanent damage to that arm.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:58 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Sid Sydney!
