Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Mark Misirlou (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Brian Rude (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Misirlou comes into the arena with Most Precious Blood - Shark Ethic blaring out of the sound system. Brian Rude has the power to score a knockout today if he connects clean with Mark Misirlou's chin.

And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Brian Rude!
The judges for this bout are Dillan Fox, Ian Loll and Elvis Blanc.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Misirlou misses with a body shot.

Rude looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Rude missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.
Misirlou keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!
Misirlou wants to control but Rude is keeping busy.
Misirlou makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Misirlou.
Misirlou manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Rude manages to get himself to full guard.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Rude accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Misirlou trying to strike from the bottom but really, it's not the best position to be doing that from!
Rude is looking to work some ground and pound but Misirlou has wrist control.
Rude must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Misirlou holds on and takes a little breather.
Misirlou not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Rude trying to control but Misirlou is working from the bottom.
Misirlou has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Rude shoots in but no luck this time.

Rude uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Misirlou.

Brian Rude seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Rude shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.

Rude gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

and Misirlou counters with a one-two to the body.
Rude slips a jab and a cross from Misirlou.
Rude throws and low kick but Misirlou moves out of range easily.

Misirlou drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Misirlou is looking to work some ground and pound but Rude has wrist control.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Rude can do anything to dispel that myth.

Misirlou is in close to Rude's body, working some short punches and elbows.
Misirlou slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.

Misirlou working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.

Misirlou creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots.
Rude is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
Misirlou wants to control but Rude is keeping him busy.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Misirlou moves into full mount! Rude won't be happy about that!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Misirlou lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.

The referee warns Rude that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
