The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Saint Pierre throws a right and a left that both miss.
Valasquez circles away from the clinch attempt.
Saint Pierre shoots in looking for a takedown. Valasquez tries to sprawl out of it but Saint Pierre keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Valasquez manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Saint Pierre will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

and Saint Pierre connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Valasquez leaves Saint Pierre with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Saint Pierre takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming.
Oh Saint Pierre is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Valasquez connects with a nice cross there... Saint Pierre is looking wobbly and Valasquez recognises it - he's rushed in and lands two more brutal shots that send Saint Pierre to the canvas, out cold! A brutal finish to the fight - Valasquez jumps onto the cage to celebrate with the crowd!
