PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Blake Gray (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Seamore Harry (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Gray comes to the cage accompanied by "Beautiful Dangerous" by Slash. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Blake Gray!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Seamore Harry!
The judges for this bout are Elvis Blanc, Trevor Gratis and Alec Ball.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Harry fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Harry fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Gray wants to clinch.
Nice sprawl there from Gray as Harry shoots in.
Blake Gray has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Seamore Harry.
Harry keeps the fight on the outside.

Gray gets a clinch.

Gray has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Harry is trying to keep an underhook but Gray manages to get the takedown into half guard.
Gray lands with a punch from half guard.
Gray is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Gray passes into side control, despite Harry's attempt to control the position.
Gray in side control, just content to control the action for now.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Harry is looking to reverse the position.
Gray working away.

Gray has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.

Gray looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Gray looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
Harry is looking for a sweep. Gray is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Gray is looking for a kimura here.
Harry tries to roll over but Gray keeps him under control.

Gray is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Harry trying to hold on to Gray's head to control him but Gray postures up.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Harry clinches up against the cage.
Harry fails to pull the fight into his guard.

Gray breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Harry closes the distance looking to clinch

and Gray counters with a single leg into guard. Harry didn't expect that.
Harry is trying to control the position but Gray postures up.

Gray decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
Harry looks gassed!

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Gray fails with a takedown attempt.
Harry fails with the takedown

and Gray counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Gray.
Gray wants to break the clinch but can't.
Gray looking for a takedown.

Harry jumps guard and drags Gray to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.

Harry had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Gray is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Harry Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Gray's back instead.
Gray wants to escape the position.
Harry wants to control but Gray manages to buck him off and is now in Harry's guard! Nice work there by Gray!

Gray decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Blake Gray dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.



Gray scores with a takedown into Harry's guard.
Harry is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.
Gray trying to control but Harry is working from the bottom.
Gray content to stall in guard here.
Gray's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

Harry pushes Gray off and scrambles back to his feet.
Blake Gray seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Harry gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily

and Gray decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Harry's guard.
Harry is breathing heavily.

Harry has his foot on Gray's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Gray works his way back into a safe position though.
Gray's corner is telling him to maintain position.
Gray throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Gray connects with a couple of short punches.
Harry is wriggling around but Gray manages to pass to half guard.
Harry keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
Harry trying to control here.
Gray is keen to just control but Harry is a slippery customer.
Gray seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.

Gray stands up and beckons Harry to join him on the feet.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Harry crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Gray - the referee stops the clock and Harry gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Gray. Harry manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.
Harry leaves Gray with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

Gray clinches.
Harry throws a knee to the head but misses.
Harry tries to pull guard but Gray holds him up against the cage and eventually Harry drops back down to his feet.

Gray decides to pull guard.
Gray has Harry pulled in close to control his posture.
Gray tries to land a sweep but no joy.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Gray keeping moving, preventing Harry from controlling successfully.
Gray looking for a sweep. Not yet Gray, not yet.
Gray looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Harry puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.
Harry prevents Gray from standing back up.
Harry works his way into side control.
Blake Gray overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Harry trying to control the action but Gray is working from the bottom.

Harry tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Harry has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!



Gray has managed to clinch.
Harry tries to score a body lock takedown but Gray shows good agility there to stay on his feet.
Harry is pressed up against the cage. Gray has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Harry down to the mat. Harry avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.

Gray stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Harry swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Harry is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Harry is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Gray looking to pass the guard.

Gray stands and steps away. Harry gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
Harry keeps the fight on the outside.
Harry circles away from the clinch attempt
and Harry counters with a good, hard body kick but Gray shrugs it off.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Gray lands with a straight right. Harry didn't see that one coming.
Gray has his takedown stuffed

and Harry counters with a nice double leg into side control. Gray won't be happy with that.
Gray is not content to let Harry control the position.

Harry thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

Harry is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Gray knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Harry tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it.
Gray is looking for a sweep.
Harry working away.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Gray is positioning himself to get back to half guard.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Gray is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Harry's half guard.
Harry wants to get back to full guard.
Seamore Harry has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Gray postures up and decides to stand up, from the half guard. The ref calls for Harry to stand up.

Gray looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Harry!
Harry swinging wildly from the bottom but he's not landing.

And that's the end of the fight!
Blake Gray showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Gray has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
