Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Troy Thompson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and John Ruiner (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A head kick from Thompson lands but Ruiner takes it in his stride.
Thompson thows a body shot but no joy.
Thompson misses the shot to the body.
Ruiner looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Thompson is fending him off so far but Ruiner persists. Nope, Thompson circles away and we're back to standing.

Ruiner fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Thompson, pushing him back against the cage.

Thompson wants to get back to striking at distance but Ruiner won't allow it.
Ruiner has Thompson pressed against the cage, preventing Thompson from circling away and getting back to striking at range.

Ruiner is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Thompson's shoulder. That is not cool.
Thompson is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Ruiner asserts his dominance and retains side control.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Thompson shoots for a double leg takedown but Ruiner sprawls well. He's pushed Thompson's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Ruiner shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Thompson's guard.
Ruiner must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Ruiner tries to free his leg and advance position but Thompson is retaining full guard.
