PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Daniel Sanchez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Danny Perez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sanchez shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Perez sprawls well. Perez wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Sanchez gets slowly back to his feet.

Perez fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Sanchez, pushing him back against the cage.

Sanchez breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Sanchez has managed to clinch.

Perez has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Sanchez uses from the top position.

Perez looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Sanchez is looking to stand up but Perez won't let him.
Sanchez trying to control the position from guard on top but Perez is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Sanchez passes into half guard.
Perez tries to roll over but Sanchez keeps him under control.
Sanchez lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Sanchez not landing any meaningful shots this time.

Sanchez throwing shots but Perez is blocking nicely.

Sanchez throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Sanchez is nestled in close to Perez, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
Sanchez tries to stand but his arm is trapped.
Sanchez trying to control from Perez's half guard. Perez has other ideas though and has regained full guard.
Perez bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Sanchez's guard.

Sanchez has his feet on Perez's hips. He pushes off and gets to his feet. Nice work.
Sanchez tries to clinch

and Perez counters with a takedown into side control.
Sanchez managing to avoid any damage from the strikes thrown by Perez.

You can see the frustration on Sanchez's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Sanchez gets back to half guard.
Sanchez is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Perez's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Perez's back!

Perez looks to control his opponent's hands but he's not mananging it at the moment.

Sanchez somehow managing to miss with a strike from the back.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Sanchez is hanging on to Perez's back as he tries to escape.
Sanchez lands shots from the back.
Perez covers up after taking a massive shot to the side of the head.
Sanchez struggling to keep hold of the position.
Sanchez gets his hands free as Perez looks to control.
Sanchez connects with a big shot to the side of Perez's head.
Sanchez lands with a couple of good shots - one to the side of the head and one questionable shot that could be viewed as to the back of the head but the referee lets it go.
Perez trying to control but not successfully.
Watch the back of the head! Comes the shout from the referee towards Sanchez.

Sanchez has his opponent trapped and is landing shots. Not a good position for Perez.
Will Sanchez go for the finish here or will he try and keep control of the position?
