Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Paul Bear (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Juan Carlos Ortega (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have solid standup skills and neither is particularly fantastic on the ground, so let's hope for a nice standup war!

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Paul Bear!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Juan Carlos Ortega!
The judges for this bout are Kenichi Hosakawa, Hirohito Nitta and Ren Mimura.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bear closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so.
Ortega stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.
Ortega uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Bear.

Ortega is going olschool here, as he tries to force Bear to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Bear shrugs it off.

The step up in weight doesn't seem to be a problem for Ortega. He's performing admirably here against the bigger man.

Ortega lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Paul Bear seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Well Ortega has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
