Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Paul Curwin!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Rob Williams!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Williams throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Williams lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Curwin circles away quickly and effectively.
Curwin takes one to the side of the head.
Williams tries to score a power double leg takedown but Curwin sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Williams somewhat.
The fight stays on the outside here - Curwin looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Curwin fails with an attempt to clinch.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Curwin wants to clinch up but Williams keeps it at a distance.
Williams looks to land a combination but Curwin avoids it well.
Curwin is looking to clinch.
Curwin fails in his attempt to clinch.
Curwin moves in looking to clinch but Williams pushes him off.
The fight stays on the outside here - Curwin looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Curwin clinches up against the ropes.
Williams working hard to break the clinch.
Curwin lands a knee to the body.
Williams looks gassed!
Curwin misses with a knee strike.
Curwin creates a bit of distance and throws an elbow that only just misses.

Curwin pulls guard.
Curwin is trying to control the position from the bottom.

Curwin throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Williams escapes and throws Curwin's legs to the side, diving into side control!
Williams tries to stand but Curwin is controlling his head.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Curwin tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Williams wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
You can see the frustration on Curwin's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Curwin gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.
Curwin is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Williams's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Williams's back!

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Watch the back of the head! Comes the shout from the referee towards Curwin.
Even with his hooks in, Curwin manages to miss with strikes from the back.
Curwin struggling to land strikes to the head as Williams covers up.

Curwin has managed to slip his arm under Williams's chin. This could be all over... yep, Williams is tapping out! Submission win for Curwin.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:50 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Paul Curwin!
