Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Carone keeps the fight on the outside.
Carone throws a series of punches but McDonald moves out of range.
Carone defends well against a solid takedown attempt from McDonald.
A big right from Carone misses.
Orfeu Carone seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Carone misses with the combination.
McDonald is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Carone scores with a jab. McDonald acknowledges it with a nod of the head.
McDonald throws a head kick that Carone semi-blocks.

Carone throws a nice looking combination but McDonald bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Carone tries to bum rush McDonald with a series of wild strikes but McDonald uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

McDonald takes a swing at Carone's ribcage but misses.
Carone looks to score with a jab to the body but McDonald is just out of range.

McDonald throws out a leg kick but Carone moves out of range and McDonald only half commits.

and McDonald counters with a single leg into guard. Carone didn't expect that.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Carone manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. McDonald manages to get himself to full guard.

Carone with a flurry of punches that miss.
Carone is looking to stand up but McDonald won't let him.
Carone wants to stand and escape but instead McDonald has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

McDonald wants to control from the top but Carone keeps moving.
Carone is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Carone slaps away a takedown attempt from McDonald, before circling back to the center of the mat.

Carone throws a combination but it was largely blocked by McDonald.
McDonald doesn't manage to clinch there - Carone circles away.

and McDonald counters with a nice double leg into guard.
McDonald wants to pass the guard but Carone is keeping the position.

Carone is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and McDonald defends well.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Carone's corner calls for a 1,2 combination and Carone duly obliges.

McDonald uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Carone.

Carone comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.
McDonald takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.

Carone scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.
McDonald seems to have recovered his senses.

McDonald is looking to clinch but Carone is avoiding it.
McDonald takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket.

Carone throws a right hand that McDonald ducks under and follows up with a left that McDonald also avoids with ease.

Carone throws an overhand right that lands on McDonald's shoulder, as McDonald tries to avoid the shot.
McDonald looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple.

McDonald tries to clinch up but Carone circles away and keeps his distance.
McDonald shoots for a double leg takedown but Carone sprawls well. He's pushed McDonald's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Orfeu Carone has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Chris McDonald.

Carone ducks down and throws a hook to the body but McDonald moves away.

Carone connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.
Carone fails to land with a series of punches.

McDonald uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Carone.

Carone bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of McDonald's head.

Carone's corner calls for a 1,2 combination and Carone duly obliges.
Carone throws a body punch but McDonald moves out of range.
McDonald with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Carone to score with a decent uppercut.
Carone misses with a few strikes there.

McDonald shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.
McDonald trying to control but he's not successful this time.
Carone sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Carone makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Carone.

McDonald bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Chris McDonald has got the better of the ground game so far.
Carone tries to bench press McDonald off him but McDonald keeps the position.

Carone is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of McDonald's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take McDonald's back!

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Carone is cranking McDonald's head sideways - that looks painful. He's managed to get his other arm under the chin and this looks bad for McDonald! He's tightened the choke and McDonald is tapping out!
