PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Victor Fondue (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mike Tyson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Mike Tyson told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Victor Fondue!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Mike Tyson!
The judges for this bout are , Frank Antenori and Jack Bonds.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Fondue tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Tyson thuds a left hand into Fondue's body.

Tyson fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Fondue, pushing him back against the cage.
Fondue is trying to slow down the pace in the clinch, to catch his breath.

Tyson's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Mike Tyson seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Tyson gets a clinch.

Tyson breaks from the clinch.
Fondue throws a head kick that misses.
Fondue misses with a body shot

and Tyson counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Tyson.

Tyson escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Tyson lands with a hook. Fondue tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.

Tyson darts in and clinches Fondue up against the cage.

Tyson breaks the clinch.

Tyson shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Fondue napping and manages to drive through into side control!

Tyson throwing ground and pound but whilst doing so, he forgets to control position and Fondue works his way back to half guard. Good composure under pressure.

Fondue is looking to control Tyson's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Fondue avoid being mounted?

Tyson thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Fondue's head.

Tyson is looking for a kimura here.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Fondue is looking to control Tyson's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Fondue avoid being mounted?
Tyson not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.

The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Tyson lands a nice short elbow.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Fondue slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.

Fondue looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Fondue is looking to stand up but Tyson isn't so interested in that idea.
Fondue is breathing heavily.
Tyson works over Fondue with some ground and pound from guard.

Tyson drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Fondue manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Tyson has Fondue in his guard.
Fondue really is a fat lump.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.

Fondue won't allow Tyson to get back to his feet.
Fondue tries to stand but Tyson is controlling from the bottom.

Tyson looking for subs off his back but Fondue has passed one foot through into half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Tyson is trying to control but can't.

Tyson kicks Fondue off and gets back to his feet.
Fondue tries to clinch but fails miserably

and Tyson counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
Tyson wants to stand up but Fondue is controlling the position.

and Fondue counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.
Fondue shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Tyson as he jumps to the side.

Tyson pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Tyson drives through and clinches with Fondue against the cage.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Fondue shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Tyson napping and manages to drive through into side control!
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Tyson manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!

Tyson throws a series of punches but Fondue avoids them all with ease.

Tyson stands up over Fondue, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.

Fondue trying to hold on to Tyson's head to control him but Tyson postures up.

Tyson thows a big elbow that misses, also allowing Fondue to regain full guard.

Fondue pushes Tyson off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.

Tyson gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.

Fondue tries to keep at a distance but Tyson has taken the fight into the clinch.

Fondue manages to break the clinch.
A left and a right from Tyson both land. Nice combination.

Tyson throws and elbow that misses. Fondue uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Tyson's guard. Nice move by Fondue!
Fondue has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Tyson is proving hard to escape from.

Tyson throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Fondue escapes and throws Tyson's legs to the side, diving into side control!

Tyson tries to get back to half guard but can't.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Tyson is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Fondue is controlling him well.

Tyson holds on tight, trying to prevent any damage.
Tyson wants to control but Fondue postures up.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

and Tyson counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.

Mike Tyson showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Tyson can do anything to dispel that myth.
Tyson is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Tyson postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Tyson must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Tyson gets to his feet. Fondue looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!

Tyson rushes Fondue and presses him up against the cage.

Tyson breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

and Tyson counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.

Tyson darts in and clinches Fondue up against the cage.
Tyson wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.
Fondue lands with a light punch inside.
Fondue keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Tyson's efforts to push away.

Tyson breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Fondue avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Tyson clinches but Fondue breaks the clinch

and Fondue counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.

Tyson has his foot on Fondue's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Fondue works his way back into a safe position though.
Fondue is standing up over Tyson. Tyson looks to escape but Fondue dives into side control.

Tyson explodes and escapes back to his feet! Nice escape there!

and Tyson counters with a nice double leg into side control. Fondue won't be happy with that.

Fondue takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Tyson lands some shots froms side control.
Fondue wants to get back to his feet but Tyson drags him back down.

Tyson misses with an attempted head punch from side control.
Fondue tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Tyson wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Fondue is not content to let Tyson control the position.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Fondue is looking to clinch.
Victor Fondue has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Mike Tyson is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Tyson tries to clinch up but Fondue circles away and keeps his distance.
Tyson looks to land a combination. Fondue sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.

And that's the end of the fight!
I would just about give that final round to Mike Tyson.
Well Tyson has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
