The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Sanders gets the takedown into side control.
Sanders laying and praying for a moment but McCullough takes advantage and regains half guard.

McCullough stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and McCullough wants it to stay on the feet.

Sanders is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
McCullough bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Sanders's head backwards.
McCullough leaves Sanders with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

Sanders is breathing heavily.
McCullough throws a front kick aimed at Sanders's knee but Sanders avoids it well.

McCullough swats away the attempt to clinch by Sanders.
McCullough scores with a sloppy right hand. Sanders should have avoided that one.
Sanders tries to score a power double leg takedown but McCullough sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Sanders somewhat.
Sanders seems to have got his legs back now.

McCullough drops Sanders with a beautiful combination! Sanders stares up at his opponent, who ushers him back to his feet - McCullough is looking for the KO!

McCullough lands a left and a right that send Sanders crashing to the mat, dazed. McCullough thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet!

Byron Sanders's cut is getting worse.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Sanders will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
